Religious Education

Welcome to the Beverly Catholic Collaborative's Religious Education. We are blessed with having over 500 children and youth enrolled in our Religious Education program. The most current information regarding Religious Education can be found on the website and in the bulletin. It is our privilege to be a partner with parents as they share our faith with their children.

Please consider joining our dedicated volunteer catechists and their assistants by sharing your time and your faith with the children and youth of our parish.

Our Schedule for Religious Education:

  • St. John the Evangelist: Sunday mornings 9:15-10:15am at Saints Academy School
  • St. Margaret of Scotland: Sunday mornings 10:15-11:20am at Rectory
  • St. Mary Star of the Sea: Sunday mornings 9:30-10:30am and Wednesday afternoons 3:30-4:30pm at St Mary School-Chapman Street.
  • We also offer a Homeschool curriculum for grades 1-8.

Sacrament Preparation for First Communion & First Reconciliation

To prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, a candidate must be enrolled in the parish Religious Education program or attend Catholic school for at least one year prior (usually grade 1) and during the year of immediate preparation. The family is directly involved in preparing the child for the sacrament.

Please complete the Registration Form to register a child for preparation for First Reconciliation and/or Eucharist.

Confirmation Preparation

The Confirmation preparation process guides the candidate into the experience of the fullness of the Holy Spirit through the completion of the Sacraments of Initiation. Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by the outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seals one’s baptism and unites the believer intimately to Christ and equips one to live as a disciple.

The process is a two-year period of formation. The earliest a candidate can prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation is in grade 9 with the celebration of the sacrament at the end of grade 10.  It consists of class sessions (approximately 12/year), 24 hours of service in total for two years and a retreat just prior to the celebration of the sacrament.

Confirmation sessions are on Monday evenings at St. John the Evangelist Church for the entire collaborative.

Confirmation for adults is available for those 18 and older who have received the Sacrament of the Eucharist and catechesis in the Catholic faith through eighth grade.
